Writings
Most of my professional writing for the last many years have been in the form of proprietary, internal documents for the various companies I've worked at. The main exception is a paper I wrote that captures all I had learned from years of working on how to normalize information for consumer retail products from web crawling and data feeds. It's a much harder problem than you might think. An overview and link to that document can be found here:
Prior to my more recent proprietary documents, I wrote and co-authored a number of research-related papers. Most of these were refereed and appear in various journals. You can see the list and access the papers here:
Another bit of writing I have done was to produce some periodic newsletters for teams I have managed. I did this at both Pronto and Bazaarvoice and found it a great tool. Its uses were many:
- these served as a great communication tool for getting information to other departments;
- they were good for the team to see their hard work was being promoted; and
- it forced me to spend time in reflection of the past and upcoming weeks' events.
Here's a sample of what they looked like:
I also occasionally write a blog article, but much more often, I will write down some thoughts and notes for a potential blog article, then never have to time to revisit it. I have over a dozen ideas queued up, but the ones I have written up can be found here:
