Education
Ph.D. in Computer Science
Brown University, May 1998.
My doctoral thesis was titled "Exact and Approximate Algorithms for Partially Observable Markov Decision Processes." It is 450 or so pages, which is a bit long. If I had more time, I would have made it shorter.
M.Sc. in Computer Science
Brown University, May 1994.
While pursuing my doctorate, I had reached all the necessary levels of achievement to receive their Masters degree.
B.Sc. in Computer Science / Applied Math & Statistics
Stony Brook University, May 1992.
I majored in both Computer Science and Applied Math & Statistics. The overlap in the two degree programs made it somewhat easier than if they had been more differentiated. I was able to complete both programs in two years due to the course credits transferred from Suffolk County Community College and the University of Buffalo.
A.S. in Computer Science
Suffolk County Community College, August 1990.
I spent 6 years going to school at night to get this degree. I was working 45 hours a week during the day in a factory job at the time. I sometimes say that I worked harder for this degree than all the others. I got an excellent education from the adjunct, night-time faculty, many of whom worked at the nearby Brookhaven National Labs.
